The Chicago Tafia Welsh Society have written to us :

"A plaque in Mobile, Alabama commemorating the 1170 voyage by the Welsh Prince Madoc to the America's has been removed and placed in storage by the Alabama State Parks Department.

Around 1,000 people from the US, Canada, Wales and elsewhere around the world have signed the petition so far.

Can I possibly interest you in adding your name to the petition: www.petitiononline.com/AWA0987/petition.html

Any help you can offer in  helping us get the word out about this petition and help getting the plaque reinstated to it's rightful home  it would be very, very greatly appreciated.

Saturday 15th March 2008
Bury FC

Dilwyn was struggling to re-start the engines of Cymru III in order to get back in time to be match sponsor for this titanic clash between Wrexham & Bury. That's when our WASA boffins stepped in. By rewiring and adapting the onboard fax machine and enlarging the paper tray in the one in our office, we were able to fax Dilwyn down. Quite brilliant, and our patent attorneys are working on it as we speak.

An excellent day out in the rain, saw Brian Little's Red & White army take their chances and all three points off a skilfull Bury side. We need the points more than them anyway.

Have a look at some of the pictures.

And have a look at what a Bury website had to say (it's about half way down the page)

Equally at home dispensing coffee or bovril.
Forms a closed cylinder whose internal volume is defined by the formula

Actually, you can buy one right now in our newly refurbished cyber TEA ROOM

Callisto mission extended

The Welsh Space Agency (TM) is pleased to announce the almost indefinite extension of our mission Cymru III to Callisto. Originally scheduled to end on 31st March 2007*, we decided to leave it completely open-ended. This was to save disappointment to the many fan who has bombarded our website since the launch some time ago. And also to allow our space scopes time to locate Cymru III with anything more than 5% certainty.

*Special thanks to the Western Mail for the reminder.

Dilywn now located - see front page.

WEBSITE WINS AWARD
Yes, whilst our intrepid Cymrunauts Dilwyn & Megan have been pushing back the boundaries of interstellar space, this very website has been busy winning awards :
LEAST UPDATED WEBSITE (UK) 2006
Congratulations to all concerned. Though we've spoilt things rather by updating the site with this announcement. We promise to sit on our laurels in an attempt to hold on to the prize for 2007. Don't watch this space.

The Craft...
The new craft, Cymru 4, is on the drawing board as we speak.  Well more of a sort of cigarette packet than a drawing board.  But things ARE moving fast.  We're going to put a sharper point on the front of this one, and possibly some sort of lavatory for the crew.  From our last radio contact
with Dilwyn on Cymru 3, he said spirit dispensing optics just don't work in the micro gravity of space, so we're looking at some sort of alcohol pump for this one.

The Mission...
We are currently recruiting (with no great success I might add) for the Cymru 4 mission. It's very exciting and you may just want to get involved. You see, we are planning to create the very first Welsh colony in space. We were going to go for Uranus, but someone pointed out that it might be a bit too mushy to land there, and also it sounds rude and we don't want any of that! Luckily Uranus has got a nice moon called "Miranda" (yes, really. And one called "Puck". And Bianca - you couldn't make it up!), so we're going there instead.

Anyway, it's one of those "the animals came in two by two" sort of things. So just like in the bible story, we need 2 of everything. We'll need 2 butchers, 2 welders, 2 window salespeople, 2 tv newsreaders etc., We'll make do with just the one farmer thanks. We've got someone called Joanna from Cardiff coming along, a retired sheep dipper called Hywel, and we could do with a few more in case someone gets cold feet. So if you're interested, drop us a line at the WASA address. But do bear in mind, it's cold this time of year so appropriate footwear would be advised. Also a parka if you've got one. A fondness of hard licquor may also be advantageous. Oh! and you'll need a funnel. Don't forget to say what you're 2 of.

Training...
at the White Lion, Cerrigydrudion starts 7.30 prompt next Tuesday. Bring 20p's for the pool table.

Cymru IV manning latest :

The following "2 of's" are now fully subscribed for Cymru IV:

  • Milk person
  • Stairlift sales rep.
  • Computer nerd
  • Photocopier engineer
  • Babysitters
  • Claimant of unemployment benefit
  • Football commentators

But we do still need 2 each of the following for the Miranda colony :

  • High quality biscuit bakers
  • Pigeon fancier
  • U2 Tribute band drummers
  • Toby jug artists
  • Liberal democrat spokespersons
  • Quantum field theorists
  • Jehovas witnessii

We're alright for farmers, thanks.

Fund raising...
Cerrig Merched y Wawr made a fantastic effort and raised £330.25 on their tombola stall, and Eryl from the White Lion also gave us £10. Keep that cash rolling in.

  BENEFIT GIG...

Welsh Rockers "The Peth" have still to agree terms to headline at "Space Aid 2007".

The Cardiff based popsters who sing about swearing and rolling fags have declined to comment on their continued non-receipt of any calls or correspondence on the matter.

WSA asks that everyone goes to "The Peth's" website and urges them to write a song. It's the least they can do. They can be found in a quiet corner of their own website.

  BISCUIT SPONSORSHIP ANNOUNCED...

Island Bakery Organics of the Isle of Mull in Scotland, are rumoured to be about to announce themselves as sponsors of the Cyrmu IV mission to Miranda. The sponsorship package, said to amount to a whole display box of their new Chocolate Limes* may well be winging it's way to WSA HQ right now.

It's a well known fact that it was their Organic Oat Crumbles that kept Dilwyn and Megan going so well for so long on our Cymru III mission. So we look forward to another mission success** built on quality biccies, welsh tea, special brew beer and fags (and some winalot for Meg).

*it might not be either
** or failure

  BIG NEWS COMING....

Watch this space for enormous news about a new pop-record. About a space agency. We can't say which one yet. And we can't say which South Wales Rock band called The Peth are writing it. All will be revealed soon.

  NEW LOGO...
WASA Logo
WSA Logo

Darling of the Welsh Space Agency, Cole Henley, has designed us a snazzy badge. Unfortunately, Cole wasn't sure whether we're supposed to be W.S.A. or W.A.S.A (like NASA). And if we're completely honest with ourselves, we don't know either. So come on folks. Who the heck are we? W.S.A. or W.A.S.A. Answers on a postcard toaanyone@welshspaceagency.org. We love you Cole.

Anyway, Mamgu is busy knitting patches for the spacesuits as we speak.
